Please feel free to comment. I didn't really intend my first ever blog to seem so personal; I guess I hoped it would strike a chord in some other folks and they would share their thoughts, too :) Although I use "I" a lot when I write (the legacy of years of therapy), I'm not really just talking about me, but wondering about these things as they apply to anyone.

Here's a question to get y'all going:

What do you think of Socrates' statement that "a life unexamined is a life not worth living"?

Regards,

Jay

Hi Jay,

A "life unexamined is a life not worth living!" I feel that by examining your life, you begin to understand the person you are today. It is not necessarily an easy process. At times you can dislike, or even hate yourself for the choices or decisions made.As time goes by, you learn to accept and forgive. You move forward with your life, reflecting on the wonderful memories, attempting not to have your view distorted by the black destructable cloud of self loathing, jealousy and hatred towards oneself and others. As I read your blog, I think back to how I remember you. An intelligent, articulate, confident, self-reliant and confident lady. It seems alien to how you describe yourself now.
But then, who am I now? I look at the television with amusement. A man in his 60's oils his body in preperation for the bodybuilding championship he is entered into. I watch in amusement, as his muscles ripple under the glow of the spotlight, my aches as I attempt to stand to leave the room. I feel aches and sores all the time....similarily from someone who used to be so fit.
